Grace to the Nations distributed food and children’s clothing to over 25 families in need this past Saturday, April 17, 2010. Special thanks to Hide & Seek Day Camp for the clothing donations and to all the volunteers who helped organize and serve the local community of need.

We will be serving the local community of need with food and children’s clothing, shoes, and toys. GTN needs volunteers to help organize on Friday, April 16th from 1-5pm at the GTN Distribtuion Center at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Distribution day, Saturday, April 17th starts at 10am, we can always use volunteers at the distribution, so come on out and help serve in our community.

If you would like to help us restock the pantry click here to download regular distribution items of need.

Items can be dropped off at GTN’s collection sites.

REDEEM HAITI

Grace to the Nations is working in Haiti right now to help those affected by the earthquake. Already, a medical mission has been set up at Quesqueya Christian School and an orphanage discovered yesterday in an area that had received NO assistance is being given help and hope.

GTN’s Work in Haiti Earthquake Relief

The goal of Redeem Haiti is for the Christian church to “take up the call to action and commission with God.” The recent earthquake in Haiti has provided countless opportunities for the church to do just that. Spencer is working with our partner churches in the Dominican Republic as well as here in the States, and with many individuals within those churches. He is currently in Haiti coordinating relief efforts to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those affected by the earthquake.

Shoes for Street Children in Santiago, D.R.

An opportunity has risen during my trip to the Dominican Republic. One of the ladies who works year-round with children on the streets in Santiago, Dominican Republic is attempting to give 30 children new shoes for Christmas. I would like for Grace to the Nations to assist her in this project, but I need your help. I would like to raise $300 ASAP and use these funds to buy these children shoes for Christmas. If you would consider helping it would be greatly appreciated. GIVE NOW and help a child in need this Christmas. Thank you!

Atlanta Flood Update

Grace to the Nations (GTN) is receiving a variety of calls from both supporters and those in need. We are not a disaster relief ministry (though perhaps we should start that ministry???), however we are doing what we can to assist and connect folks. Thanks for the overwhelming calls of support. Many of you have offered your time, services, and tools. Churches have offered space and resources as well. So thanks and God bless you. голова болит секс

For the most part, locally, the government services have handled the immediate needs. From the calls we’ve received homes are still flooded and wet and the clean up is yet to begin or in the initial stages. Families are devastated at the loss of much of their material possessions and those calling GTN have little to no support structure (church, family, etc.). So be praying for these families.

What is GTN currently doing? We are trying to focus on immediate needs of food, clothing, and shelter while the larger agencies (govt. and nonprofs) mobilize. We have already started the process of pointing people to other resources and we are trying to do this relationally and hold their hands and head up while dealing with larger nonprofits and the government, which can be very intimidating in and of itself. If you would like information about a specific family, perhaps you would like to come along beside them and personally encourage them and help them more intimately, please contact GTN. We will try to connect you.

Volunteer for Community Bible School!

Summer is upon us, which means that it is almost time for GTN’s Community Bible School in Brown Park! This year’s CBS will be held Monday June 29-Wednesday July 1. We will be providing free food for families in the park beginning at 6pm and the activities will run from 6:30-8.

We still need volunteers to help in a variety of ways. Read through the opportunities below and let us know how you would like to get involved.

Dinner Team: We will need a few people to help set up, cook, and serve food each night. These volunteers will need to be at the park around 5:45.

Recreation: We need a couple of people to lead games each night. We can provide you with ideas or you can bring your own! Recreation will be the first activity each night and will begin at 6:30.

Arts & Crafts: We will need some crafty folks to help the kids with their art activity each night.

Snack Providers: In addition to dinner, we also provide the kids with a light snack during Bible story time. We will need volunteers to provide snacks each night and to help serve them around 7.

REtechSouth selects Grace to the Nations

I am excited to announce that REtechSouth has selected Grace to the Nations as its charity of choice for the 2009 conference. REtechSouth was born out of the desire to host a conversation about the technological changes impacting the real estate industry. While the conversation is targeted to the real estate industry, I personally attended the conference last year to learn more about 2.0 technologies and came away changed. I would recommend the REtechSouth conversation and its upcoming conference to any professional that is looking at ways technology can improve their communication to any audience. I would like to thank all those who helped to organize the conference and those who attend REtechSouth for making Grace to the Nations your beneficiary. Introducing Grace to the Nations 2.0

Grace to the Nations has launched its new website integrating web 2.0 technology. The site is still under construction but it is functional and being updated regularly. I must give my brother, Brad Nix at Maxsell Real Estate a big fat thanks for helping me build the site, he’s always been the bigger nerd. I noticed at one point a very scary reality, my chat log with my brother had more to do with html code than baseball, and we both love baseball.

Check back often as new content is added. We want to push you to the edge of ministry and we will soon be inviting, asking, collecting, and recruiting a whole new community that connects around this ministry. We look forward to having you on board and keeping you connected to each other and into the community of need.
