Community Bible School 2010: July 19-21

Summer is here, and that means GTN is hosting it’s annual Community Bible School (CBS) in Brown Park.

CBS will be held July 19th-21st from 6-8pm each night. We will be offering dinner beforehand for all children, guardians, and volunteers again this year. If you are interested in volunteering please contact GTN, but even beyond volunteering we would love for you to simply bring your children, grandchildren, and neighbors children. Come be a part of this diverse community driven ministry project right here in Canton, GA.

Schedule includes dinner and all the Bible School classics:

A special thank you to all the residents and postal workers of Canton and Talking Rock. Your donations of food from Saturdays Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will provide food for hundreds of local families through the Bags of Grace ministry. Over 2 tons of food were donated to Grace to the Nations. Job well done!

Over the past several years, technology has become vital to the ministry of Grace to the Nations. Whether it be communicating with our supporters through our e-newsletter, connecting with efforts in Haiti via Twitter, or simply sharing GTN’s work through our websites, technology helps us accomplish our mission of connecting the community of believers into the community of need.

That is why we are so proud to have REtechSouth as a business partner this year. REtechSouth is the largest real estate technology conference in the southeast. This conference has supported GTN since its inception in 2008 and we were privileged to be involved again this year.

Thanks to those of you who attended for donating $600 to GTN and Project Judy. Your contributions sponsored another 30 Judy dolls for the orphans of Haiti! And a special thanks to REtechSouth for your corporate sponsorship. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

The Wenceslas Project 2009

I sent out a holiday newsletter last week informing our supporters that we are unable to do our regular Christmas project (The Wenceslas Project) helping local families with Christmas and sharing grace with them. I cited the fact that we had little response from past supporters and those that did respond, responded that they would be unable to help this year. However, since that holiday newsletter went out last week I have had many calls and emails from those asking about the project and desiring to help a family. Unfortunately it is too late in the process to do the normal project, however, if you, your family, your church, your business, or your Sunday School class would like to help a family in need this Christmas, I can still connect you to family in need and you are free to help as you see fit. Contact me ASAP if you’re interested.

GTN will be doing The Wenceslas Project for children in Haiti as part of the REDEEM HAITI ministry. We will be able to do much with far fewer resources. If you would like to make a donation of any size, $5 will supply a child with a great Christmas gift and a warm meal, please do so now. We would also love for you to send GTN a Christmas card, but instead of wishing us a Merry Christmas if you would simply write, “Joyeux Noël” and maybe a favorite verse, we will deliver these cards to Haitian families the week before Christmas. Atlanta Flood Update: October 12, 2009

Grace to the Nations (GTN) continues to work with local victims of the 2009 Atlanta Flood as well as distributing donations to others who are helping. Our focus has been on the immediate needs of food, clothing and shelter. To date GTN has distributed over 2,000 lbs of food, as well as clothing and other household needs. You, your families, your businesses and your churches have made this possible. Saying thanks seems like such a small gesture. Those who have received have been generous with their thanks. Many times the food or clothing has been far less meaningful than simply the encouragement they receive from knowing others care for them.

We would also like to say a special thanks to New Media Atlanta and ReTech South for their financial contribution and the wonderful example they have given the technology community in Atlanta. download Long Good Friday, The On that note, over half of the response Grace to the Nations received regarding the flood came through social media like Facebook and Twitter. We were able to connect with people far from our community and get them involved in ministry efforts. As Bob Dylan once sang, “The times, they are a-changin!”

I would also encourage you to go and read this story about local believers who took it upon themselves to get deeply involved and connected into the community of need.

In the days ahead we will continue to work with any local flood victims through our Life2Life Mentoring ministry as we assist them in rebuilding their lives and pointing to One who is greater than any flood. Continue to pray for the families affected, go out and get involved. HopeAtlanta is continuing to organize volunteers in ministry efforts. If you’re available, go and serve. BE the church!

Atlanta Flood Update: Wednesday, September 23

Been on the ground today in those areas most affected by the flood in Cherokee county. Local needs have been our first priority. I was able to give away some food and gift cards to families in need as well as evaluate the true situations of the calls we received. I’m happy to say that from all the resources gathered that the need for immediate assistance in Cherokee county is low. Those that I met that are in some need are making it with the help of neighbors and other support from friends and family, which is awesome. There are five families as of today that are still looking for shelter for an indefinite amount of time. If you are interested in meeting this need contact GTN immediately and we will go from there.

Many of you are local and are looking to help and wanting to donate supplies. And since GTN is about connecting people like you to the community of need we are expanding our search for the need to downtown Atlanta. We are attempting right now to partner with a local city church that is organizing and mobilizing for flood victims (video below). So feel free to contact me for donations of all supplies: clothes, toiletries, food, etc. We will be gathering them and taking them to the church in the city. I also hope to give you more volunteer opportunities as I meet and evaluate the needs in the city. голова болит секс

Back-to-School Distribution: Sat., August 1, 2009

We will be serving GTN clients’ children with back to school necessities along with our normal Bags of Grace distribution. GTN needs your help collecting school supplies for the August 1st distribution as well as your help on distribution day.

There will also be a volunteer work day at the GTN Distribtuion Center at Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Thursday July 23rd at 2pm to prepare Back-to-School bags. Distribution day (Saturday, July 30th) starts at 10am, we can always use volunteers, so come and experience the blessing of service.
